Updated Plans for Books, Boots & BBQ
The health and safety of our patrons and volunteers is so important to us! As the corona virus epidemic continues to affect our community, the Round Top Family Library is making some adjustments to plans for our annual fundraiser. We hope these changes will give a broader set of options for folks to participate and support the library.
As planned, our event will take place Saturday, September 12th at the Round Top Rifle Hall. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p,m, Held on the even years, this casual, fun event is intended to thank our community for your support and to thank our awesome volunteers. Weather permitting, the event will be moved outdoors to allow greater social distancing. Tables will be arranged under the covered pavilion and on the Hall grounds. A delicious BBQ meal, served by LJ’s BBQ in Brenham, will be offered. LJ’s has been named one of the best new BBQ joints in Texas. The generous meal will be packaged in to-go boxes and placed on tables for our guests to retrieve.
More fun outdoors
All entertainment and fun activities are also being moved outside. We’ll have fun toe-tapping western swing music by the Buckaroo Band. Celebrating our new service, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, we’ll have a talented Dolly Parton impersonator entertaining the guests. You can participate in a fun “Blind Wine Pull”, buying a ticket to take a chance at winning a great bottle of wine. During the evening, we’ll be pulling the winning tickets for the “Here’s the Beef!” raffle. Two lucky winners will each enjoy about 500 pounds of high-quality beef, processed and packaged by Eckermann’s Meats in Shelby. Two $250 Eckermann gift certificates will also be awarded. You need not be present to win, so be sure to buy your raffle tickets soon! You can purchase them at the library or from various event planning committee members
Drive-through available 5:30 – 6:30 – pre-purchased meal tickets only
A drive-through lane is being added so that patrons can still enjoy the great food, even if they are not able to join us in person. Meal tickets ($30) will need to be pre-purchased so that we can ensure that everyone who buys a ticket will receive a great LJ’s meal of brisket, sausage, mac & cheese, pinto beans, homemade cobbler and ice cream.
An exciting combination live and online auction
We’ve collected an interesting and fun collection of items for our auction. We’re taking our auction virtual so that all can participate! Some items will be offered a few days in advance of the event in an online auction hosted by Buck-Up Auctions. Most items will be offered at the event in a unique combination of a live and virtual auction. Heather Kaspar will conduct her usual high-energy, fast-paced auction under the pavilion. Guests at the event will have bidding paddles and can join the fun. Patrons at home and even those at the event will also be able to place bids using their smart phone. Buck-up Auctions staff will be monitoring the online bids and shouting them out real-time. It should be very exciting! More information will be coming about auction timing, how to register and how to bid.
In case the weather doesn’t cooperate…
We do need to plan for a weather contingency. In the event of nasty weather, we will move the event indoors, maintaining the seating arrangement at proper distances. We anticipate that more patrons will opt for the drive-through in that event.
Please be safe!
We want everyone to remain healthy and safe! Please plan to wear a mask during those times you are not eating or able to social distance from others. If you are over 65 years of age, or have underlying medical conditions, consult with your physician before attending to discuss your personal risk factors.
Please join us!
Reserved tables for 8 ($300) or 10 ($500) will be arranged under the pavilion – your table purchase includes that delicious BBQ meal. . Tickets and tables can be purchased online here (SEE BELOW) or at the Library..
