Round Top Family Library is seeking to fill the role of Children’s Program Coordinator.

The Children’s Program Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing best-in-class children’s programs. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all children’s programs and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of program activities, including completion of weekly checklists and routine purchasing related to children’s programs. The Children’s Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

  • Essential Job Functions

    • Coordinates with the Executive Director and Library Manager to deliver high-quality, current children’s programs.

    • Ensures the safety of all children on campus during, which is the primary duty of this role.

    • Coordinates programs including but not limited to Children’s Story Time, after-school programs, homeschool outreach, and summer programs, including teaching these programs as needed.

    • Coordinates with the Executive Director and Library Manager to ensure the facilities are clean, organized, and safe as they relate to program activities.

    • Collaborates with the Library Manager to schedule children’s programs, associated rentals, volunteers, and temporary employees.

    • Ensures that required background checks for all employees and volunteers working with children are completed prior to any interaction with children.

    • Ensures compliance with the “second adult in the room” policy for all children’s programs.

    • Coordinates and attends select annual events that can take place on- or off-campus, including but not limited to Christmas in the Library and other events required by grants.

    • Maintains frequent contact with children and their parents and demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills with patrons, volunteers, coworkers, and the Board of Directors.

    • Assists with program evaluation, tracking attendance, cost, outcomes, and participant feedback to support program improvement.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education and Experience Requirements

    • Associate’s Degree or related work experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 

    • CPR, First Aid, or higher medical certifications required within one year of employment. 

    • Child Safety training required.  

    • Experience with special needs populations preferred; training will be required within one year of employment.

    • Proficient in using Google apps including Gmail, Docs and Sheets. 

    • Title VII compliance training preferred. 

    • Cyber-Security training preferred. 

    • Active Attacker training preferred. 

    • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred. 

  • Working Conditions

    Work environment: Includes a variety of on- and off-campus duties, primarily non-physical, but may require lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds as needed.

    Travel: Infrequent travel; very limited overnight travel possible.

    On-Call: Available by phone, text, or email only in the event of unusual circumstances.

    Special Conditions: Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and manage interactions with children, parents, volunteers, staff, and the Board of Directors.

    Compensation and Benefits: Hourly wage to be determined by the Executive Director and Board of Directors. 

    Hours: Hourly position with varying work hours, averaging approximately 30 hours per week, with occasional night and weekend responsibilities.

    Overtime: Not eligible for overtime unless approved in advance by the Executive Director.

    Special Conditions: Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and manage interactions with children, parents, volunteers, staff, and the Board of Directors.

    Compliance with Workplace Policies and Agreements:

    • Comply with Round Top Family Library Bylaws and Policies & Procedures.

    • Work with the Executive Director to ensure employees, staff, volunteers, and guests adhere to all Bylaws and Policies & Procedures. 

    • Collaborate with the Board Member serving as Programs Chair.

    • Report any violations of written or verbal directives immediately to the Executive Director.

    Evaluation and Review:

    • Continuous informal evaluation and review by the Executive Director. 

    • Formal review annually in December.

    • Additional formal reviews may occur as necessary.
